Do you have experience to share?
Tony, Rita and Dennis explain how they made the first step to volunteer and how their experience is valued in their volunteering roles.
Tony Hogarty is a volunteer Team Leader with Plate Pals Mealtime Companions for Crosscare in St. Mary’s Hospital, Phoenix Park. This former Irish Rail employee describes his volunteering with residents as a ’third education’. Read Tony’s story (pdf)
Rita is a Reading Tutor with Barnardos Wizard of Words. Her love of reading and years of experience reading to her two sons and four grandchildren has helped in in this important role in St. Ultan’s Primary School. Read Rita’s story (pdf)
Denis McCarthy is also a volunteer with Barnardos, joining Wizard of Words on Rita’s recommendation. For Denis volunteering makes for a happier retirement and has given him the chance to achieve a long-running wish to teach at primary level. Read Denis’ story (pdf)
